New cases of typhoid fever found again in Fiji

Three new cases of typhoid fever from the Baba settlement in Levuka have been reported by health authorities. Typhoid fever continues to be a recurrent problem in the more rural areas of Fiji. Travellers to this area can reduce their risk of exposure to typhoid fever by being cautious and avoiding consuming contaminated food or water. Vaccination against typhoid fever should be considered, especially if unsafe food cannot be avoided.
