Tropical storm PAM causes destruction in Vanuatu

There are reports of widespread casualties and destruction in Vanuatu after tropical cyclone PAM hit overnight. Flash floods may have been reported, and there are unconfirmed reports that 44 people died in Vanuatu’s northeastern Penama province. In addition, at least 1 person has died in Papua New Guinea as a result of the storm. Travellers should avoid the affected areas since essential services, including transportation, may be unavailable.
