West Nile fever season in USA

Reported cases of West Nile fever have increased to 297 cases with 12 deaths nationwide. Cases have been reported from 33 states and the District of Columbia. The most affected states include California (93 cases), Louisiana (43 cases), Texas (30 cases) and South Dakota (22 cases).

Since there is no vaccine or treatment for West Nile fever, travellers to areas where this virus has been found can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
