NS Rail Strike in Six Provinces - Netherlands

On 13 June, NS rail workers affiliated with the VVMC union will hold strike action in the north and southern parts of the country to demand better wages and working conditions. The region includes Noord-Brabant, Limburg, Zeeland, Groningen, Friesland, and Zwolle provinces. The strike will begin at 04:00 hours (local time) and last 24 hours. Rail operator NS has warned that the strike will have a major impact on travellers in the region. There will be no NS trains in the provinces of Zeeland, Noord-Brabant, Limburg, Groningen, Friesland, Drenthe, Overijssel, Flevoland and parts of Gelderland.

Advice

Unless the strike is averted with negotiations, expect and prepare for delays. Avoid all public and political demonstrations since they may become violent unexpectedly. Expect disruptions in public transport systems. Use alternate modes of transport to avoid inconvenience.
