Learn moreSalmonella-Contaminated Sushi in Chile
At least 80 people in Santiago Province have been infected with salmonella bacteria after consuming contaminated sushi at a Bokado sushi store.
Advice
Infections with salmonella bacteria can cause a gastrointestinal illness (fever, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal cramps) that can be mild and self-limiting to severe. Most people recover within 4 to 7 days without any special treatment other than fluids to prevent dehydration. Travellers can reduce the risk of acquiring salmonella infections by following food and water precautions.
