COVID-19 Precautionary Measures in Palau (10 December Update)

Can a resident enter the country?

• Yes

• Residents are allowed to enter.

Can a foreigner enter the country?

• No with exceptions

• Anyone intending to visit Palau must obtain permission from the government of Palau and follow these steps:

• STEP 1: Complete Quarantine Certificate application form.

• STEP 2: Email completed application form to [email protected].

• STEP 3: Receive approval email (will include application number).

• STEP 4: Take a PCR test within 72 hours of the departure date.

• STEP 5: Submit negative PCR certificate to [email protected]

• STEP 6: Receive Quarantine Certificate by email.

• STEP 7: Show Quarantine Certificate to airline officials before boarding.

Is transit allowed through the country?

• No

• Transit through Palau is currently not allowed.

Is a test required on arrival?

• Yes

• Eligible travellers will undergo two separate PCR swab tests during the mandatory quarantine period.

Test certificate required?

• Yes

• A PCR test certificate issued within 72 hours prior to departure from the embarkation place is required.

Is quarantine required on arrival?

• Yes

• On eligible arrival, every traveller will undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine at a government-designated facility. Appropriate testing will be carried out during the quarantine period.

• After the mandatory quarantine period, another seven days home quarantine will be applicable.

Entry form required?

• Yes

• Travellers may be required to fill a health declaration on arrival.

• Travellers must complete a Quarantine Certificate application form and email the completed application form to [email protected].

Airline restrictions

• Significant

• Wearing a face shield is mandatory when exiting the aeroplane.

• Regular commercial flights are temporarily suspended until further notice; however, Palau has resumed essential airline services.

• Private and chartered flights along with air mail and cargo services are operational on a weekly basis.

Border restrictions

• Significant

• Travellers intending to visit Palau must submit the Quarantine Certificate Application to obtain approval from the government.

• All travellers must pay a departure tax and an environmental fee.

• An entry permit will be required to enter Palau via sea. Travellers must contact Palau Port Control before arrival.

Curfew restrictions

• Minimal

• No curfew is in effect, however, the public health emergency for COVID-19 will remain in effect.

Social distancing restrictions

• Minimal

• People are encouraged to maintain hand hygiene of at least 20 seconds with soap and water or with 70% alcohol-based sanitizer.

• People are requested to avoid close contact with sick people and stay away from others if they are sick.

Internal travel restrictions

• Minimal

• No restrictions are in place.

Non-essential shops open?

• Yes

• Shops and other businesses are allowed to open.

Restaurants open?

• Yes

• Restaurants are open with regular operating hours.

Events allowed?

• Yes

• All types of events, such as sporting, cultural or social events, are allowed with safety protocols.

Personal care services open?

• Yes

• Gyms are open.

Masks required in public?

• No with exceptions

• Face masks are not required at this time. Wearing a face shield is mandatory in Palau when travellers are exiting flights.

Other

• All schools and educational institutions have reopened with strict COVID-19 restrictions.

• Public parks and recreational areas are open.

• Work sites are open with regular working hours.

The COVID-19 epidemic is constantly changing worldwide. This information is subject to change as the situation evolves. Travel and border restrictions may change with little or no notice.
