As of 12 October, at least two people were killed as floods hit Santa Catarina after continuous heavy rains since 3 October. 89 municipalities declared a state of emergency. Relief operations are underway in Aurora, Campo Alegre, Campos Novos, Canoinhas, Erval Velho, Forquilhinha, Irineópolis, Laurentino, Mirim Doce, Monte Carlo, Presidente Getúlio, Rio do Oeste, Rio do Sul, Rio Negrinho, São Bento do Sul and Tubarão. Around 12,289 people remain displaced. The most affected region is Vale do Itajaí, particularly the city of Taió. Further rains are likely in Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, and Paraná States.
