Earthquakes, Potential Volcanic Eruption - Iceland

As of 5 July, the Fagradalsfjall volcano area experienced a significant increase in seismic activity. The meteorological authority had reported over 1,800 small earthquakes in the region since 4 July. Experts have warned about the possibility of more earthquakes and a volcanic eruption in the coming days. Fagradalsfjall, located approximately 40 kilometers southwest of Reykjavik, previously witnessed volcanic eruptions in March 2021 and the summer of 2022, which were preceded by a series of earthquakes.
