Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki Erupts Again - East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia

On 07 July, at around 11:05 hours (local time), Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki erupted and produced a 1.8 km high ash column. Over seven shallow volcanic earthquakes, three eruptions, and nine tectonic earthquakes were reported as well. Lewotobi Laki-Laki remains at the highest ALERT LEVEL IV. Warnings are still in effect for potential lava floods in case of heavy rainfall for Dulipali, Nobo, Hokeng Jaya, and Nurabelen.

Advice

Observe the exclusion zone and do not engage in/conduct activities around 6 km of the eruption center for Mount Lewotobi. In case of eruption, avoid non-essential travel due to thick ash cover, low visibility, and respiratory risks. Check with the airport or your travel agent/airline to determine if your travel plans are affected. Contact the respective local authorities to better understand regulations and restrictions of the mountain area.
