Update: Nationwide Blockades Continue - Bangladesh

On 26 November, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and other opposition parties launched another 48-hour nationwide blockade demanding the resignation of the ruling government and to hold unbiased elections. Large-scale demonstrations, limited public transport movement and severe traffic congestion can be expected. Incidents of arson continue to be reported at public transportation hubs and on major roads. There is a risk of violent conflict between the local police and party activists.

Advice

Minimize safety risks by avoiding large public gatherings and protests, as they may become violent unexpectedly. Increased security and traffic restrictions are possible. Expect and prepare for public transport disruptions. Plan alternate routes/modes of transport to avoid inconvenience. If possible, avoid non-essential travel in high-risk localities.
