Authorities worried about continuing spread of measles in Auckland, New Zealand

Health authorities remain concerned about the measles outbreak in Auckland. To date, a total of 64 cases have been identified and 5 people have been hospitalized. Most of the cases have occurred in west Auckland with some spread to central Auckland, North Shore, and Manukau. With the coming school holidays, authorities fear that domestic travellers who are infected may spread the disease to other areas of the country.

Travellers to Auckland should be aware of the risk of exposure to the highly infectious measles virus and ensure that their childhood vaccinations are up-to-date.
