Turrialba Volcano in Costa Rica erupts causing airport closure and evacuations

The Turrialba Volcano in Costa Rica registered four explosions on Thursday, March 12, 2015, spreading volcanic ash over San José. Emergency authorities ordered evacuations for a radius of about a mile around the volcano and the closure of access roads near the volcano. The area is a main attraction for tourists. The Juan Santamaría International Airport is temporarily closed. Check with your airlines for cancellations or delays.
