Car bomb kills child in Semdinli, in southeast Turkey

A passing military vehicle was the target of a car bomb near the entrance to the town of Semdinli in southeast Turkey where frequent conflict between Turkish security forces and Kurdish militants has occurred. An 11 year old child was killed while 18 others, mostly passersby, were injured. Travellers should exercise extreme caution and avoid all travel in the contested areas along the border with Iraq and Iran.
