Cases*, deaths and outbreaks due to dengue fever have been reported in India, Philippines, Thailand and Australia..

India:

  • Pune, Maharashtra State - 32 cases; 2 deaths

Philippines:

  • Cebu City - 115 cases

​Thailand: 971 cases and no deaths; most affected provinces include Songkhla, Phatthalung, Krabi, Surat Thani and Nakhon Si Thammarat

Australia:

  • Cairns, North Queensland - 37 cases

*Note: There may be many more cases in the community than are reported due to incomplete reporting, lack of access to health care in some areas, and the fact that many persons with dengue fever may not seek medical care and be reported to health authorities,. Travellers to these areas can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
