Civil unrest continues in Nepal along with a fuel crisis

Nepal is rationing fuel and has stopped selling fuel to all private vehicles. There is a fuel shortage due to opposition to the newly adopted constitution. Emergency vehicles are exempt from rationing.

Advice

Travellers should be aware of the ongoing political tension and protests against the new constitution. In recent weeks, more than 40 people have been killed in clashes between police and protesters. Avoid any large public gatherings or demonstrations since these situations have turned violent and led to fatalities.
