Increases in malaria in Yemen

Through March of this year, in the Al Hudaydah governorate, there have been 12,353 positive cases of the most serious strain of malaria called Plasmodium falciparum. During the same time period in 2015, there were about half this number of cases.

Advice

Travellers to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
