Dengue cases and deaths in Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia

Dengue fever cases, deaths and outbreaks are being reported by the following countries:

Philippines

• Cavite, Cacabarzon region - 1,729 cases with 7 deaths
• Maguindanao province - 223 cases with 4 deaths

Malaysia - nationwide, 64,473 cases, most affected states include Selangor, Johor, Perak, Penang.

Indonesia

• Lebak, Banten Province - 217 cases with 2 deaths

Advice

All travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever do not seek medical care and are not reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community than the reports indicate.
