India
- National - 37,070 cases; 227 deaths. Most affected states: Kerala, Karnataka, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra.
- Madurai area, Tamil Nadu State - 217 cases; Increasing trend
- Karnataka State - 3,640 cases; 21 deaths; Increasing trend
- Pune, Maharashtra State - 886 cases; 9 deaths
Sri Lanka - 39,700 cases; 82 deaths
Pakistan
- Karachi, Sindh Province - 678 cases; 3 deaths
Philippines
- Central Mandanao - 3,726 cases; 43 deaths. Most affected municipalities: General Santos City, North Cotabato, Cotabato City, South Cotabato, Sarangani, Sultan Kudarat.
New Caledonia - 161 cases
Federated States of Micronesia - 500
Australia
- Cairns, Queensland - 2 cases
*Note: Due to incomplete reporting, lack of access to health care in some areas, and the fact that many persons with dengue fever may not seek medical care and be reported to health authorities, there may be many more cases in the community than are reported. Travellers to these areas can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
