Dengue Fever in Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka (update)

Pakistan - (Sindh Province) - 254 cases reported. The most affected city is Karachi.

India -

• Madhya Pradesh (Mandla District) - 118 suspected and confirmed cases with 2 deaths.
• Karnataka (Dakshina Kannada - 92 cases with 3 deaths. Sri Lanka - 14,091 cases with more than 45 deaths.

There may be many more unreported cases since counting and reporting may be hampered by lack of local access to health care, and many persons with mild illness may not seek health care. Travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
