Dengue fever reported from many cities in Brazil

Several cities in Brazil are reporting increasing cases of dengue fever. These include Rondonópolis and Cuiabá (Mato Grosso), Maringá (Paraná), Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais), Ribeirão Preto (São Paulo), Limoeiro de Anadia (Santa Catarina) and Porto Alegre (Rio Grande do Sul). There is a variable risk of exposure to dengue fever in Brazil depending on the activity of the virus and its mosquito vector in any particular place. In general, Travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
