Dengue fever risk continues in Brazil

Some states in Brazil are reporting new cases of dengue fever (Paraná, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso). In other areas, there are increases in the number of mosquitoes that may be infected (Santa Catarina). Some areas of Mato Grosso are registering a decrease in cases compared to last year. In other areas (São Paulo), the onset of the rainy season may increase the risk of dengue. Regardless, there may be a high, medium or low risk of exposure to dengue fever in many areas of Brazil. Travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
