Due to security concerns following the November 13 attacks in Paris, The European Union will tighten border controls in the passport-free Schengen area. The following countries are parties to the Schengen Convention: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

Travellers should be prepared to show their passport if necessary when crossing borders within the Schengen area, at airports and international rail stations. Be sure to get an entry stamp from the first Schengen port of entry. Without an entry stamp, you could be fined.
