Flooding in West and North Sumatra, Indonesia

Torrential rains have triggered floods and landslides on the island of Sumatra. Affected areas include the provinces of North Sumatra, Aceh, West Sumatra, Riau, and Jakarta.

Floods and landslides have occurred near the city of Pematangsiantar, North Sumatra. The villages of Taram and Sarilamak in Harau district, Payakumbuh, Guguk, Lareh Sago Halaban and Kapur Sembilan were among the flooded areas. The Sei Mencirim village in East Binjai and Setia village in Binjai City were among the worst-hit areas.

A 150 meter stretch of the highway connecting West Sumatra and Riau in Jorong Sopang, Limapuluh Kota regency, has been damaged by flooding.
