Increased malaria in Mpumalanga, South Africa

So far, over a thousand cases of malaria have been reported in Mpumalanga and 633 in the Bushbuckridge area. Fourteen people have died of the disease.

All travellers to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
