Increased Threats to Westerners in Middle East Following the Death of Iranian General

Embassies are warning Westerners and travellers in the middle east of an increased threat against Western interests, following the death of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani in a US airstrike in Baghdad on 3 January.

Travellers should remain vigilant and avoid places that are backed by the United States that can be a target by attacks. The security situation could worsen with little warning.
