Japanese encephalitis reports from southeast Asia

People infected with the Japanese encephalitis virus have been detected in the following countries and localities:

  • Philippines - patient from Bacaca, Davao del Sur Province
  • Vietnam - 2 deaths and cases reported from cities of Hanoi and Hai Phong and provinces of Bac Giang, Dien Bien, Son La, Thai Binh, Lao Cai, Thanh Hoa
  • India - cases reported in Kannur district (Kerala state) and Gaya district (Bihar state)
