Kidnapping in Colombia

A dissident rebel group active on the border with Colombia and Ecuador sent the Ecuadorian government a “proof of life” video of a kidnapped couple. Less than a week ago, there was an announcement that two kidnapped journalists and their driver were killed by former members of the rebel group, FARC.

Anyone travelling in Colombia or border areas with Colombia, should avoid all areas that do not have established tourist industries. The risks of kidnapping, attacks, extortion, and other threats are high.
