New Cholera Outbreak in Zimbabwe

The Ministry of Health has informed the World Health Organization of a cholera outbreak involving eight cases (4 suspected, 3 confirmed, 1 probable), and two deaths. Seven of the infected patients originated in Stoneridge and one in Belvedere West in the metropolitn area of Harare.

Advice

All travellers can minimize the risk of exposure to this disease. Strictly observe all food and water precautions in any area where there is cholera. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
