On-going anti-Japanese demonstrations in China lead to closing of Japanese businesses (update)

The sometimes violent anti-Japanese demonstrations in multiple cities, including Beijing, in China have led to the closing of many Japanese business interests in China. Electronic firms, camera manufacturers, retailers and other businesses have announced closures. Chinese demonstrators have looted shops and attacked Japanese cars and restaurants in at least five cities. Japanese-run factories in eastern Qingdao were also targeted. Travellers should exercise caution and avoid all public and political demonstrations since they may become violent without notice.
