Severe weather in Sydney and tropical storm STAN heading for Western Australia

A brief, but severe, storm system has disrupted transportation and caused power outages in Sydney. Multiple train lines were closed following the storm, including the T2 South Line, T5 Cumberland Line and the T3 Bankstown Line. Some flights in and out of Sydney were delayed.

Meanwhile, the northern coast of Western Australia is preparing for the tropical storm, STAN, moving toward Port Hedland.

Advice

In Sydney, expect possible delays in travel plans. If travelling by road, flash flooding could occur.

Tropical storm, STAN, is expected to make landfall by Saturday. Travellers should avoid the Port Hedland and coastal area. Be prepared for heavy rains, high winds and flooding.
