At least 13 patients on Moturiki Island have been diagnosed with typhoid fever.

Travellers to the affected area can reduce their risk of exposure to typhoid fever by being cautious and avoiding consuming contaminated food or water. Vaccination against typhoid fever should be considered, especially if unsafe food cannot be avoided.
