Update on transportation strikes this week in the U.K.

Southern Railway workers will strike on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday (January 10-11, 13) in a continuing dispute about driver-only trains. Further strikes have been announced for January 24-25, 2017.

British Airways (BA) cabin crew will strike on Tuesday and Wednesday (January 10-11).

Advice For Travellers

The rail strikes are causing significant transportation disruption. Southern Rail has asked passengers to consider working from home, making alternative arrangements where possible, and to consider only essential travel. A limited number of buses will be available on strike days, but space is limited. Expect long lines.

The BA cabin crew strike is not expected to cause disruption. A few Heathrow flights will be “merged”, but all flights to and from Gatwick and London City airports will operate normally.
