After a short lull in the civil unrest in Hong Kong, unauthorized protests are occurring with police using tear gas and pepper spray in the Mong Kok area. Protesters erected barricades and brought traffic to a standstill in some areas on Saturday. Protesters are also sporadically congregating at the Exit B1 of Prince Edward MTR Station.
Advice
Travellers in Hong Kong should avoid all areas of protests due to the risk of violence. If a large crowd begins to form, leave the area. Recently protesters have appeared in an area to protest and then quickly move to another location to avoid police. Be prepared for public transportation and road traffic disruption, and allow extra time for travelling around Hong Kong.
