General Strike and Protests Paralyze Barcelona

The general strike in Catalonia is underway and has effectively shut down Barcelona. So far, large protests have been peaceful. The 26 October “El Clasico” match between Barcelona and Real Madrid scheduled for next Saturday has been postponed until 18 December due to security concerns. Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia church has been closed due to protesters blocking the entrance.
