Flooding arrives in Rome, Italy

Both the Tiber and Aniene rivers overflowed their banks north of Rome, flooding farmlands, backing up drainage pipes, irrigation canals and sewers, and blocking streets that feed into the country’s main north-south highway. Central Rome was protected due to high flood walls. Travellers may encounter some transportation problems in the most affected areas.
